SERVICES PROVIDED

Individual Therapy (sometimes called “psychotherapy” or “counseling”) is a process through which clients work one-on-one with a trained therapist in a safe, caring, and confidential environment to explore their feelings, beliefs, or behaviors. Through the therapeutic process, a client is able to work through challenging or influential events or memories and identify aspects of their lives, past and present that impact their current level of functioning.

Child/Adolescent Therapy utilizes various modalities, such as CBT, play or art therapy to addresses a range of psychological and behavioral problems including anxiety, depression, OCD, defiance, school refusal, autism, aggression, social and performance anxiety, eating disorders, academic problems, and trauma. Often these problems also affect children’s development in other areas and can cause further problems in self-esteem, body image and social skills.

Couples Counseling (sometimes called “relationship counseling”) is a process through which two parties in an interpersonal relationship explore troublesome differences and patterns of stress that may be causing a breakdown in communication and trust. Therapy encourages a couple to recognize, better manage and reconcile explored triggers that results in improvements in the overall dynamics of the relationship.

Family Counseling is an effective way to improve the way your family communicates and can help explore healthy patterns that will last a lifetime. Power struggles between family members happen in every family, but there are times when seeking professional family counseling is called for, such as when:

  • Your child or you have experienced trauma
  • Your family has difficulty showing respect, kindness, or appreciation to one another
  • Your family has experienced illness or death
  • Your family member is dealing with an addiction or mental health issues
  • Your family has or will experience divorce or separation
  • You have re-married and want help integrating your families
  • You want help with better parenting strategies

Family Law Counseling allows for the utilization of a therapist in a family court case. Divorce and custody issues can sometimes be very difficult and are often filled with high tension, conflict and disagreements. Couples benefit from engaging in therapy and/or mediation to learn better forms of communicating with each other, particularly when it comes to co-parenting. They may also benefit from individual sessions where they can explore their feelings in therapeutic environment and explore what role they are playing in conflicts. Children and adolescents also benefit from therapy where they can verbalize their feelings in a safe space. Finally, some families need to engage in “reunification therapy” and “supervised visitation” which focus on helping parents and children to rebuild their relationship after they have been separated. Family counseling is sometimes court mandated.

Group Therapy is a safe environment that allows for individual growth by utilizing various dynamics. Working in a group format allows for natural patterns to emerge that can help members to better understand and address interpersonal and intra-personal issues. The ability to share ideas and receive feedback is an important aspect of building healthy coping skills and enhancing understanding of the self and others.

Anger Management Group (10 Week Certification Course) Clients will learn how anger triggers, angry thoughts and hostile attitudes and other emotions including guilt, embarrassment and anxiety. Concrete tools are taught to clients so they can begin to take control of their behavior and achieve their goals. Relationships can improve, productivity can increase, problems can be solved, and bad feelings that often follow anger episodes can subside.

Overcoming Depression Group (Rolling Admission) Depression drains your energy, hope, and drive, making it difficult to do what you need to feel better. While overcoming depression isn’t quick or easy, you do have more control than you realize—even if your depression is severe and stubbornly persistent. Through group therapy, you learn mutual support and learn simple ways to boost your mood and stay connected.

Anxiety & Stress Reduction Techniques Group Everyone experiences stress and anxiety at one time or another. The difference between them is that stress is a response to a threat in a situation. Anxiety is a reaction to the stress. Stress interferes at least moderately in most people’s lives. Chronic stress can affect your health, causing symptoms from headaches, high blood pressure, and chest pain to heart palpitations, skin rashes, and loss of sleep. You can learn how to reduce the impact of stress and manage your symptoms.
